Matt Barnes and his days with the Los Angeles Lakers are over. He will be moving across the hallway at Staples Center and will be playing for the Los Angeles Clippers. According to SI, Barnes is expected to get a deal done with the Clippers by the end of the week. This all works out for Barnes who has a home in the Los Angeles area. As a note, Barnes played for the Clippers for about half a season back in 2004.
Matt Barnes probably would have liked to stay with the Lakers, but with all their recent signings, he would see less playing time. He was also an on-and-off type of player for the Lakers. The small forward did suffer injuries, but was not a major contributor for the Lakers this past season.
With the Clippers, Barnes would have to fight for minutes, but would definitely make a great fit. He can bring some minutes off the bench and give that young Clippers team some defensive help from time to time.
